Welcome to the Garden Valley School Division PBWiki! This collaborative online space is dedicated to supporting technology professional development and showcasing educational information and communications technology (ICT) projects in the division. This wiki also offers a space where professional development opportunities can be communicated, and classroom learning can be extended and shared with parents/guardians. Through the divisional Technology Integration Plan (TIP), GVSD supports Manitoba Education's Literacy with ICT Across the Curriculum initiative. The division's aim in the last years is to move beyond mere equipment acquisition, and move toward true technology infusion across the curriculum. For more information on PD opportunities in GVSD, please also visit the PD section on the GVSD Web site.

Our ICT Mission: to "Enlighten, encourage, and enable students and teachers to develop and use ICT literacy skills...(and)...empower learners to become responsible, contributing, and ethical members of an ever changing global society." (Technology Integration Plan 2006-2011).  If you're interested in contributing to this wiki, please contact the wiki administrator

T.O.T.S. Technology PD

General Overview

The GVSD Teacher Orientation and Training Sessions (TOTS) support the growth and professional development of new teachers in the division. The TOTS Technology Professional Development sessions are provided to all newly hired teachers so that they can further develop the information and communications technology (ICT) skills/knowledge that will enable them to achieve success in GVSD. These sessions are, however, also available (on a first come basis and as space allows) to all teachers, who need to apply through their school principal for permission to attend. The TOTS Tech PD sessions are being designed to go beyond a focus on basic software/hardware usage. Rather, an aim of these sessions is to establish a Professional Learning Community, where participating teachers discover connections and collaborations that produce creative and innovative energies for the ever-changing classroom. Towards this goal, teachers in these sessions will have a chance to be among the first to explore emerging technologies new to GVSD.  see full description>>>
